Education Programme

Education should be a basic human right, but for many children living in poverty, it is a luxury they cannot afford. This lack of access denies them the chance to read, write, and dream of a better tomorrow.

At the Islamic Dawah Training Centre, we’re changing that. With the help of our UK donors, we provide children with the education and tools they need to lift themselves out of poverty and reach their full potential.

We don’t just enroll students; we build futures. By constructing schools, supplying classrooms, and training teachers, we ensure every child has a safe and effective place to learn.

Orphan Programme

Supported and built by the UK Islamic Mission, our orphanage provides a stable home for children in need. Our residents receive full-time care, including three nutritious meals a day and access to extra study facilities. With a staff of two cooks and a matron, we focus on both the physical well-being and the personal mentorship of every child in our care.

Hifz Quran Programme

At the heart of our mission is providing more than 700 children with the opportunity to memorize the Quran and live by its principles. Through our Hifz Quran Programme, we take a holistic approach by also providing students with meals, clothing, and shoes. We have established 5 Madrasas—all in Mile 91 ensuring that education is always close to home and easy to reach.

Our 17-member team works tirelessly to create a productive learning environment, utilizing both individual copies of the Quran and traditional chalkboards. Because our Madrasas are located next to local Masjids, the community is deeply involved; Masjid members help supervise the schools and coordinate closely with our IDTC staff to ensure every child succeeds.

Qurbani Programme

In Sierra Leone, where a vibrant Muslim majority faces significant economic hardship, the gift of Qurbani meat is a rare and vital blessing. For many in our community, the high cost of livestock makes performing their own sacrifice an impossible dream. Islamic Dawah Training Centre (IDTC) steps in to serve the neediest among us, ensuring that no one is left out of the religious celebrations. By providing Qurbani meat, we help families fulfill their spiritual aspirations and share in the joy of Eid.

For years, IDTC has partnered with Muslim Aid and UK Islamic Mission to bring relief to those who need it most. Our annual Ramadan 'Feed the Fasting' projects serve as a lifeline for vulnerable families across our communities. By increasing access to essential food supplies, we work together to ensure that every family can observe the blessed month with dignity and ease.

Islamic Dawah Training Centre believes that every Muslim deserves a sanctuary for prayer and community. To date, we have constructed more than 50 Masjids throughout Sierra Leone—specifically in the Tonkolili, Moyamba, Port Loko, and Kambia districts. This milestone was made possible through our valued partnerships with UK Islamic Mission and Alkhidmat Welfare UK. These Masjids serve as vital hubs where the faithful can gather in safety to worship Allah and strengthen their spiritual bonds.

Skills Training Programme

In 2019, IDTC successfully empowered unemployed youth and school leavers through a specialized skills training program funded by the UK Islamic Mission. By enhancing the employability of marginalized individuals, we have helped bridge the professional gap and cultivate a more supportive community environment. Today, these efforts continue to promote social equity by ensuring that success is accessible to all.

WASH Programme

Islamic Dawah Training Centre (IDTC) is committed to ensuring that every person in Sierra Leone has access to safe, clean water. A core pillar of our mission is to eliminate the spread of preventable diseases caused by poor sanitation. We invite you to support our water appeal; your donation is a life-saving gift that protects the vulnerable and restores dignity to underserved communities.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors in the UK and Nigeria, IDTC has already transformed lives across more than 50 communities in the Tonkolili and Moyamba Districts. By providing reliable water sources, we are significantly reducing the prevalence of waterborne illnesses like cholera and diarrhea, ensuring a healthier future for thousands.

Sport Activities

Islamic Dawah Training Centre recently hosted an exciting multi-school sports day, bringing together students from all our supported institutions for a day of healthy competition. IDTC fully funded the event, providing everything from sports accessories to custom T-shirts for the children and organizers. We were honored to welcome distinguished guests from the Ministry of Education and the Teaching Service Commission, whose presence highlighted the importance of sports in a well-rounded education.

The atmosphere was electric as students competed for top honors. To celebrate their achievements, winners were presented with cash prizes and essential school supplies. Every participant was also recognized with a certificate of merit for their hard work and sportsmanship. This celebration of talent has left our students feeling inspired and motivated to reach new heights.
