About Us
Islamic Dawah Training Centre was established in 1998 by a group of humanitarian Muslims, the Islamic Dawah Training Centre (IDTC) initially focused on training religious leaders to console war victims. However, the rebel invasion of Freetown on January 6, 1999, served as a turning point, shifting the organization’s mandate from consolation to urgent emergency relief activities.
As security returned to provincial areas by 2003, the IDTC moved its head office from the capital, Freetown, to Mile 91 in the Tonkolili District. This move marked the beginning of a deep commitment to serving local communities in the north that had previously been overlooked by other aid organizations.
In 2001, the organization solidified its presence by registering with the Ministry of Development and Economic Planning (MODEP/D3/47/NNGO/627) as an indigenous NGO authorized to operate nationwide. It later extended its formal partnerships to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender, and Children’s Affairs, as well as the Tonkolili District Council.
Since its inception, the Centre has transitioned alongside the nation. It has evolved from managing short-term emergency relief in displaced persons camps to implementing long-term sustainable development projects, such as education and vocational skills training, WASH, Health, Infrastructures and Agriculture.
At Islamic Dawah Training Centre, we are committed to investing our expertise and resources to achieve lasting change. Since 1998, we have supported our community in diverse ways, measuring our success not by monetary scale, but by the qualitative impact and effectiveness of our efforts.
We believe in the power of collective action—just imagine what we can achieve together with your support!
